The subject of Requirements Management is one of the components in the Systems Engineering Management process. This overall process includes several sub-processes. Some of these are an integral part of any project, whilst others a r e a result of t h e specific nature of the project.
Examples of integral sub-processes: • Design Management • Interface Management • Requirements Management• Configuration Management • Verification & Validation • Safety Management • RAM Management
Examples of project-related sub-processes: • Security Management • EMC (Electromagnetic compatibility) • Requalification Management
In complex, large-scale projects Systems Engineering Management process, including R e q uirements Management, usually dictated by the demands of the client, or alternatively applied by the Contractor due to the internal procedures of the Quality department in the organization.
Requirements Management process
In general, the process of managing requirements can be divided into three consistent phases as presented in the following diagram.
